9.30 am zoom Welcome from James and the Tutors
zoom Chamber music sessions scheduled during the day for each group with either James Halsey or Joshua Lynch
This will be a fun day to get to know others on the course, investigate some chamber music techniques and have a little taste of what normally is an important part of the summer school!
zoom An Evening with Rebecca Gilliver
We are all invited to share the evening with Rebecca and we’re looking forward to what she has in store for us!
Monday – Thursday daytimes:
9am YouTube Linda’s Warm up
An holistic approach to warming up before playing your cello is a great way to maximise sound and enjoyment and minimise injuries. Linda Cunningham is a kinesiologist and cellist (and normally our host in Scotland) and she will help us connect our brains with our bodies with a different warm up each day.
9.30 – 12.30 and 4 – 6pm zoom Individual lessons – open to course members to watch
You will receive a timetable of lessons that will be taking place with James Halsey, Phil Higham, Rebecca Gilliver and Joshua Lynch and you are welcome to watch and learn from any that you are not taking part in. There will be a few minutes in between sessions so that you can arrive on time as you will not be able to access the sessions after the lesson has started. Watching others’ lessons is a major part of the normal festival, and, as well as being inspiring and incredibly useful, really contribute to the supportive atmosphere of the summer school.
7.30 zoom Traditional Scottish Cello Session with Alice Allen
Have some fun and learn some trad tunes and accompaniment techniques with expert Scottish cellist Alice Allen. Alice was a founder member of the Aboyne Cello Festival and now in great demand as a player and teacher at the RCS. Supplementary material will be available on the website.
